Dr.Web Mail Daemon
Doctor Web, Ltd. announces beta testing of new the product - Dr.Web Mail Daemon. Its main application is to filter mail traffic going through a computer. Various plugins (libraries for processing of messages) connected to Dr. Web Mail Daemon allow to extend its functionality. At present, the libraries of antivirus checks and filtering of mail messages by headers offered for beta testing. The anti-spam module will be available later.
The main modules available at present can be described as follows:
- Antivirus plugin for scanning e-mails by the Dr.Web engine sends parts of the mail message for anti-virus check. This secures highest possible level of detection of the infected message.
- Plugin for filtering e-mail messages by headers uses regular expressions which makes its setting flexible and operation efficient.
- Support of check of e-mails via Dr.Web FlyTrap allows to filter messages going through a computer for spam. It also provides for flexible settings and supports various clients and UNIX-systems.
Main technical features:
- Dr.Web Mail Daemon has its plugin API to switch filters.
- Dr.Web Mail Daemon can interact with mail servers using their own API filters. The API filters of Sendmail, Postfix, CommuniGate Pro, Exim, and Courier servers are supported.
- Dr.Web Mail Daemon can work as SMTP Proxy to protect mail servers which do not have API filters or operated under non-Unix platforms.
The following beta-versions of Dr.Web Mail Daemon for the following operating systems are offered for beta-testing:
- Linux (glibc 2.2/2.3)
- Solaris 9/10
- FreeBSD 4.11/5.1/5.2/5.3/5.4/6.0
